Physical Traits
These are large dogs. They can range in weight anywhere from 150 to 200 pounds. They are well built, extremely muscular and have large heads. Males range in height from 24 to 27 inches tall and females from 22 to 25 inches tall. They sport many different colorings and can have a mix of colors as well. Some popular colors are black, cream, fawn, brindle, mahogany, red and brown. They have an incredible bite force and are not keen on anything that threatens their owners or home.
Personality
These dogs are playful and calm with their families and are known to be gentle and protective. They are not overly warm to strangers and need to be introduced to new people before they will let down their guard. They are assertive and have very strong protective instincts that come from their breeding as home and family guards in South Africa.
